TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia (TGRA) is ready to begin its Australian Rally Championship (ARC) title defence with the 2025 season kicking off from March 21 at the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Rally of Canberra.
For defending champions Harry Bates and Coral Taylor, Canberra is home turf as they aim to secure a third consecutive title in 2025, having won the ARC championships in both 2024 and 2023.
Bates and Taylor will be joined by TGRA teammates and 2022 champions Lewis Bates and Anthony McLoughlin, who will have a point to prove after finishing the 2024 season in barnstorming fashion and then missing out on second place by a solitary championship point.
The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Rally of Canberra offers spectators two days of high-octane dirt-road action around the Tidbinbilla and Kowen forests in the ACT, with over 100km of special stages on each event day.
The TGRA team will be back in its factory-built GR Yaris Rally2 cars and aiming to secure Toyota’s eighth ARC Manufacturer’s title.
After finishing on top in the first day of official testing in the ACT, defending ARC champion Harry Bates said he couldn’t wait for the season proper to get underway.
“We couldn’t be happier with how last year panned out. The GR Yaris Rally2 drove superbly, and we were able to string together some consistently strong finishes across the season” Harry said.
“The cars are running really well through testing for both Lewis and I, which is encouraging for the season ahead. We’re really looking forward to the season and can’t wait to get stuck into our title defence at Rally of Canberra.”
Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Vin Naidoo, expressed his excitement about what the TGRA team can accomplish in the 2025 ARC season.
“The 2024 ARC season was a remarkable achievement for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Australia team, clinching the trifecta of driver’s, co-driver’s and manufacturer’s titles. This success is a great tribute to the effort and commitment of everyone involved”
“The ARC produces some of the most exciting motorsport the country has to offer, and we can’t wait to see what the upcoming season has in store for our team.
“On behalf of Toyota Australia, I’d like to wish Harry, Coral, Lewis and Anthony all the best for the upcoming championship and hope that they can turn their excellent form into a win at the TGR Rally of Canberra.”
Following the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Rally of Canberra, the 2025 ARC season takes competitors across Australia, with the second round taking place in Western Australia in May.
