The Big Red Ute Stage Car Takes The Stage For The First Time Ever At The Wiggles™ Melbourne Concert On Saturday 7th December 2024

December 9, 2024

Toyota Australia has announced a new partnership with multi award-winning children’s music group The Wiggles™ and have unveiled the Big Red Ute stage car.

The partnership between Toyota and The Wiggles™ brings together two iconic Australian brands and a relationship that will spark joy and nostalgia with children and adults alike.

Alongside the partnership announcement, Toyota Australia presented The Wiggles™ with a brand-new, custom-made Big Red Ute stage car, developed by the Toyota Product, Planning and Development department.

Toyota Design Australia’s Senior Designer Product Planning & Development, Michael Mills, said the design team have worked tirelessly to bring this colourful concept to life.

“We were thrilled when we were approached to design and develop the Big Red Ute stage car, and the team wanted to ensure every detail of the vehicle captured the fun and vibrant spirit of The Wiggles™.”

“From the initial creative ideation process to the final, functional model build, every step has been an adventure filled with fun and excitement.”

“We hope the Big Red Ute brings as much joy to fans as it did to us during its creation”. Mr Mills said.

The Big Red Ute stage car is an addition to the official roadworthy Big Red Ute vehicles, Buute and Toott which were announced in October and will take the stage for the first time ever at The Wiggles™ Melbourne Concert on Saturday 7 December. The stage car will continue touring with the group across Australia and world-wide.

Following the recent release of The Wiggles™ new song, Big Red Ute – a fresh country tune with nostalgic ties to the classic Big Red Car™3 – Toyota jumped on the opportunity to collaborate with The Wiggles™, combining one of Australia’s most recognisable Utes, the Toyota HiLux, with a lively country-rock infused anthem.

Toyota Australia Chief Marketing Officer, Vin Naidoo, said the partnership between Toyota and The Wiggles™ will bring two iconic Australian brands together for all to enjoy.

“Toyota is excited to partner with such an iconic Australian children’s music group and develop a new set of Big Red Ute wheels for their upcoming tour across Australia.”

“The development of the stage car is a first for Toyota and has been a fun concept to bring to life for the band. It’s not every day the team develops a vehicle with a bubble machine and LED eye headlights as its main features.” Mr Naidoo said.

The Big Red Ute stage car exterior design is based off a Toyota FJ Cruiser, which allows full driving capabilities for the band on stage.

The vehicle is fitted with a bubble machine and LED screen headlights programmed as eyes providing the band a truly Wiggly stage entrance.

The original Blue Wiggle Anthony Field said he was incredibly excited to see this new iteration of their stage car come to life.

“We’re beyond thrilled to unveil the Big Red Ute stage car for the very first time at the Wiggle & Learn BIG SHOW in Melbourne on December 7.

“Thanks to Toyota, this new addition is packed with fun, moveable gadgets and gizmos and is sure to fuel excitement for Wiggles fans for years to come. Buckle up – it’s going to be a Wiggly ride.”

The unveiling of the Big Red Ute stage car and the partnership announcement is perfectly timed ahead of The Wiggles™ driving the roadworthy Big Red Utes, Buute and Toott, to Australia’s Country Music Capital, Tamworth.

The Wiggles™ will perform at the 2025 Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival – of which Toyota has been a long-standing partner for more than 30 years – where they will perform in two special shows on January 21 at the AELEC (Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre), a venue known for hosting rodeos and quarter horse events.
